John Hansel

Team: U14 Girls

Coaching License: USSF 'D'

John Hansel has been coaching in Spencer for six years. He began his coaching career at the high school. For two years he was the assistant varsity coach and the head JV coach for the high school boys. Those first years he learned a lot and was happy to attend a great coaching course and receive his national 'D' license. For the past 4 years, Hansel has been the head girls soccer coach at the high school. They have celebrated a great record going 42-14. In 2015 they went to state for the first time in girl's history. He is currently the head coach for the U14 girls team.

Ben Hoben

Team: U12 Girls

Coaching License: USSF 'E'

Ben Hoben is involved with Northwest Iowa Soccer Club as the vice president on the board, referee coordinator for the recreational program, and is the assistant coach for the U12 girls’ team. He currently holds a USSF ‘E’ license.

Cole Loehr

Team: U12 Boys

Coaching License: USSF 'E'

Cole is a former Spencer High School soccer player who is very passionate about soccer. Coaching for 6 years now, Cole currently holds his USSF 'E' license and is working towards his 'D'. He is the U12 boys head coach. Along with that he has been a volunteer coach for Spencer High School boys team. He has extensive playing experience including being a 2 year starter for Iowa Lakes, playing at Bellevue University in Omaha, Nebraska and playing internationally in England against teams such as Chester City.

Ben MacRae

Team: U14 Boys

Coaching License: USSF 'B', UEFA 'B'

Ben MacRae is the Iowa Lakes men's soccer head coach and the Competitive Director for NWISC. His coaching and playing experience is extensive. He led the Spencer High School boys' team to a state title in 2009. He was named IHSAA State Coach of the Year in 2009 and in 2010 was a NFHS National Coach of the Year Finalist. In 2014 he was named ICCAC Coach of the Year. He is the U14 boys head coach for NWISC. He currently holds a USSF 'B' license and a UEFA 'B' license.

Abbey Miller

Team: U12/U16 Girls

Coaching License: USSF 'E'

Abbey Miller has been coaching with NWISC for the past 2 years. She is currently the Director of Operations and Coaching Director. She is also the head coach for the U12 and U16 girls' teams. She was the graduate assistant for the Iowa Lakes women's soccer team for two and a half years. She played goalkeeper for four years at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. She holds a USSF 'E' license and level 2 goalkeeper diploma.

Tracy Small

Team: U16 Girls

Coaching License: USSF 'E'

Tracy Small has spent his whole life in Spencer. Wife Jen and 2 daughters Breanna (17) and Kirsten (14) are very active in the club as players, referees, and volunteering where needed. Tracy is the current Academy Program coach and U16 girls assistant coach. He holds his D license. Being involved with the club for over 8 years he is very excited to see the growth the club has made and the fruits of the labor watching the players develop as great people and soccer players.
